Kelly, Founder/Executive Director and Marcia Dennis, Hands Project Board Member and Crime Prevention Specialist, city of Portland, Oregon.

Purple Hands Pledge launched in San Diego
Over 28,000 San Diego City and County employees were asked to take the Purple Hands Pledge. Many school children along with local community leaders such as the Mayor, members of the City Council, San Diego County Supervisors, firefighters, professional athletes from the San Diego Padres, radio personalities and city and county residents participated in the Pledge.

National School Safety Week

YWCA's National Week Without Violence
The Hands Are Not For Hurting Project, based in Salem, Oregon, has partnered with the Salem YWCA for their Week Without Violence campaign for the past four years. This year we extended our partnership to include the Portland YWCA.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools Superintendent/School Board present Proclamation joining Salem and Oregon public officials. All Salem-Keizer public schools asked to participate district wide (k-12) in the Purple Hands Pledge during the week. A variety of activities took place in schools in Salem, throughout Oregon and around the country showing unity as we join Hands to end violence, one person at a time, one day at a time.
