On Sunday, October 17, in partnership with the YWCA's Week Without Violence, the Salem Center hosted a very special event. Children and adults were invited to take the Hands Are Not For Hurting Project's Pledge: "I will not use my hands or my words for hurting myself or others." Each person left their purple hand print on the wall and signed their name as a lasting reminder of their commit>ment. The purpose of this permanent mural is to inspire and remind all who see it of the need to create a family, a community, a state, a nation and a world free of violence. One by one we join hands in unity and peace.
